UX training course
Creator & Educator
Worked on this solo and created a partnership with Adobe who co-hosted
My role: I created an internal training course named XD201 and successfully ran 4 intakes involving 35 practitioners from various areas of the firm, including Strategy and ITS. I have another course planned, with participants signed up, for the end of May. I am also arranging a course specifically for the ITS BA team, as they have found it really helped them in their work.
Knowledge is power, but sharing it is even more powerful. I enjoy learning and staying up-to-date with design and best practices and I think it’s important to help mentor and teach junior members too. This is why I created a training course called XD201, aimed at anyone wanting to develop detailed experience in, and understanding of, UX and the UCD process and will be using these skills going forward
I designed the course to provide detailed knowledge and hands-on practical experience of the user-centred approach to design. I would recruit fellow senior XD team members to share their day-to-day methods as well as tell stories of past experiences.
The course would run over 5 days and participants took on real design challenges through the end-to-end design process. I’d teach the key experience principles, set a brief, and explain how to conduct research and translate it into insights to create personas and user journeys. Participants would then draw designs and create initial wireframes, whilst learning prototyping tools, to create a working interactive solution to then go out concept test and gather feedback, before iterating and presenting back to the group.
It was highly beneficial for the XD team since it’s helped us make internal hires and department transfers to those interested in up-skilling or changing discipline, but also it was great for BAs to learn the process and start to use it in their projects too.
